L&G Productions, LLC

You write the book. We do the rest.

Like pulling weeds in a garden, the editor searches for every last typo, extraneous expression, and grammar gremlin until the language landscape is uncluttered by word weeds and other distractions. This editor may also add color and design in wording and expression to attract readers, while maintaining the author’s intention and voice.” (Barbara G. McNichol)

When you’ve written the last word of your book, our job begins; and most authors are well aware of the work that’s left to be done.

The first step is to get your book professionally edited. There are several different kinds of editing, from line editing (correction of grammar, spelling, punctuation, verb tenses, transitions, syntax, word phrasing, and clarity of writing) to copy editing (checking for or imposing a consistent style and format) to substantive editing (identifying and solving problems of overall clarity or accuracy by reorganizing paragraphs, sections, or chapters) to proofreading (for typographical errors or for sense).

You can hire a different editor to do each different function, if you want, or pick and choose what kind of editing you want. (For example, at Professional Book Editing Services)

At L&G Productions, we only offer the entire package together. In other words, when we edit your book, our job is to take what you give us and return a finished product in all aspects that’s ready for publishing. Our standard rate is 2 cents per word ($1200 for a 60,000 word book).

Included in that finished product is a book formatted and ready to pass the test for inclusion in the Smashwords Premium Catalog as an eBook, and ready for submission to Amazon.com for the Kindle, as well as a .pdf file ready for submission to a publisher or to Lightning Source, for example.

Special Smashwords-Only Formatting

Smashwords has developed a “MeatGrinder” which takes an ebook in a Word .doc and automatically reformats it for all the different kinds of ebook readers available on the market; for example, .epub for Apple, .mobi for Kindle, .pdf, .lrf for Sony readers, .pdb for Palm readers, etc. However, this MeatGrinder is very particular about the format of the Word .doc it uses. Some of the requirements to pass the MeatGrinder are unfamiliar to many authors (see the Smashwords Style Guide), and figuring out how to get past the MeatGrinder can be an extremely frustrating and time-consuming experience.

We will prepare your ebook for the Smashwords MeatGrinder as a stand-alone service for $.005 per word with a guarantee of passing, assuming you can give us a reasonable Word .doc to work on. (Some price adjustments might have to be made if the original Word .doc is not up to standard.)
